Widely credited to the Boy Scouts of America, I heard about Rose, Thorn, Bud by the amazing Alisa Cohn, who is an executive coach based in New York, NY who helps start-up founders mature into world-class CEOs.
Let’s parlay this thinking exercise with how we deploy our personal branding innings on a daily basis.
Rose by its very virtue of positivity and feel-good fragrance embodies that we should always think of the good things that have happened to us in a given day. When we see glimmer in glum, we look for the positive developments and double-down on them.
Thorn in its essence reflects on how things could have gone better. Say any pain-points or functional challenges that surfaces and how we can improve on the same.
Bud is the journey from ‘unmanifest to manifest’- meaning how what we look forward to in an enthusiastic anticipation.
This simple self-reflection urges us to create more and fester less. The evergreen dopamine that we crave is creation instead of mindless consumption of not-so-pleasant or negative content.
