Frankly, I barely have a social circle. I’m a world-class loner. No, I’m not kidding. For real, I mean.
I go to book cafes and coffee shops, even have occasional masala chai and I revel in that solitude.
My best content ideas come either when I am travelling or when I am doing absolutely nothing.
And this is the reason – the solitude – because of which I could curate my creative sanctuary.
To many of you, who may think personal branding is about high-five flash and blithe, it is a slow love that compounds over a period of time.
More so, it is about ‘writing’ – meaningful writing which is for service for others and not for just commercial success (at least in the first few months or a year or two – and still stay serviceable).
Imagine saying hi to a stranger working on something and serendipitiously reading the same book as yours.
I have lived in this shared aloneness and collective content creation for more than a decade. We need more meditative cowoking spaces where we speak and listen and communicate deeply with each other.
We need more micro-inspiring (as Radhika Gupta says) events and community gathering to share our pinnacle of success and journeys of learning lessons so that we co-create and grow together.
As Naval Ravikant says, authenticity kills competition. So when we all learn to be with ourselves, we create authentic energy, not gloss and floss. This fosters genuine connection and social environment.
So next time when someone asks you about your network, talk about a whole , consummate life buzzing with a resplendent life and aliveness! This is true personal branding – having a socially selective life, the one that exudes the same energy you ardently desire to receive.
