Reading

Books are my best companions.

I feel blessed to have read for more than a decade.

My grandfather – a brave soul who just touched his 90th reads a newspaper in granularly detailed manner.

He motivates me every single day.

So I write because he writes and reads.

His comprehension leaves me in a shock.

He is sharp and articulate in his expression.

Which gets me back to this anchor – of what reading books can do to your mind, body and soul; and of course your skills.

Skills like comprehension, interpersonal potency, oral and written prowess and improved cognitive health of your mind are some of the gifts reading can give you. More to that? Reading spurs creativity and lowers your blood pressure – aren’t these health perks we all crave for?

Even for patients having ADHD, reading books slowly strengthens your concentration instead of snacking on junk content. Trust me, ADHD folks are the most intelligent people I have met, personally!

If you read aloud, even better, though not always of course – you need reading rest and respite.

But try and read one book per week and see the difference in 4 weeks. You will spring with new ideas and also make you better at sales and business development as you will have deep conversations instead of sweet pleaseantries.

Gradually you transcend from situational awareness (with the power of reading) to situational agency (power of known and informed, transcendent execution) as mentioned in the book Situated by Angela Duckworth.

So read, and read and read again – and let me know how you feel?
