I’m a vanity buff – after all, who doesn’t like the functional progress of things?

I do – and rather innately.

So I have good news for you. You don’t need to incessantly hustle with the vanity metrics of your content creation progress. Sometimes, it’s that one enmeshing of your work with what your prospective client truly needs that forms the bedrock for authentic growth.

That feeling of being felt and seen, and then exuding that sense of being mattered and noticed into your client’s fundamental expectations creates fireworks! When your content is read between the lines, alphas and betas, and then sublime gammas is where we sense true growth and bliss! In my recent meeting, I heard an intelligent person ask: ‘how can we be discovered on the web?’. Appalled and embracingly responsive I said: write for humans not search algorithms, that’s the true discoverability and modern SEO in ancient storytelling.’ When we solve a problem, the solution finds us on the web via your audience that seeks the truth of the matter/ context in which they search you with an intelligent phrase – one that assuages their curiosity.

You need to focus on the transcendent KPIS – the ones that Ann Handley, Founder of MarketingProfs espouses: optimising for relationships, and I’d add something called compassion commotion. This means when you passionately care and take action on what your client needs to hear and not wants to listen; creates effortless excitement and deep curiosity for what you collectively envision as success.

So when you feel you are working way too much and not actualising on returns, remember that consistency trumps one-off snazzy gimmick or transient trailblazer. What counts is that one ‘fix’ – that one emotional click which can outlast everything with its residual returns (Yes, Greg McKeown’s book called Effortless is great!). One good and consistently built up flagship written asset yields the good-vibe returns over a longer period of time.
