I came across a beautiful phrase from my meditation teacher Emily Fletcher – it’s called ‘Remembering the future’.
Let’s also cast a a fresh look into our past – things and experiences that have shaped us physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Here’s the dive – when you look back at what has made you, you, trace positivity and thank your body for taking it all in even when you were not ready.
Say ‘thank you’ to what caused you so much of an ordeal yet you’ve arrived into the new now, into this effervescent present of your life. The beautiful part? You know the outlet – please give it its due. Let go.
You can heal your body on an epigenetic level when you observe the root of pain and pleasure in your biology.
When you remember how good you’ve been, you entrench this pattern of ‘goodness’ even into the future. You love the process of becoming and unbecoming at the same time – that’s how intelligent a human life and nature is.
But then, isn’t this a bit tough?
Well, maybe, but not when you start a meditation and visualisation practice – the time when you train your mind to seek happiness within. You see, meditation is a skill – you build it and flex your emotional and mental muscles twice sitting a day – every day.
This unlearning and relearning is called the process of ‘living’ your personal branding journey.
When you discern your past with optimism, you don’t just live your present – as Greg McKeown says: You keep living! We all love our new versions – but let’s lever forget our version 1, our first personal prototype. And then don’t we all love the sequels?
Look forward to your past because that’s how you will remember the future!
