Work-life

Much has been cascading on the web to pronounce the definition of personal branding. That is, in some way, it is stated to rack up a million followers, be viral, have your presence everywhere, and blah!

But, have we ever understood the real meaning of building your personal brand? I read the best in a long time on personal branding by one of my favourite Solopreneur – Justin Welsh. And he says that having a great personal brand is when you have a good life.

Now let that sink in for a bit. A. Good. Life. (Smile, please?)

So when people talk about hustle; you are simply focusing on your best work – even if it is just a a few hours in a day. And the rest of the day? You recharge, have afternoon meal with your loved ones, or simply go out for a walk that replenishes you.

So how can you be a personal branding rebel?

By being a life activist. Having a healthy balance between work and life and enmeshing the two with joy.

Ann Handley purposefully says, ‘optimise for relationships’. And, that means you know how to live your life with the right work-play balance.

Having a beautiful bias for life where you know you have the reigns to your best work is what I call being a personal branding rebel.

You see, being a rebel is being a true activist: for the belief system and environment that you’ve cultivated and having the wisdom and jolt to shake the archaic status quo reverberating around maintaining and growing your personal brand.

And so, when next time someone asks you how are you building your personal brand? Give them the ‘admission experience’ to enter your life and see the gorgeous view!
