I read such an amazing quote by someone called Fady on X: he said that the greatest flex isn’t your car. It’s walking into your 40s with visible abs and endless energy.
Now this is some serious dopamine that we need to reevaluate on what we seriously desire from our lives.
We, many times, harbour a dream where we drive fancy cars, use cool phones, and buy a mansion – and , no, there’s nothing wrong in desiring and aspiring for the things we’d love to have in our achingly short lives.
But once you transcend to the bigger picture, desiring then uplevels into alignment with what matters the most to us: in our relationships, experiences, business and life in general.
To be truly happy and content with our lives, raise the vantage point and be a ‘seer’ and then you can ’see’ from your view: What looks conspicuous? What looks long-lasting? What still matters in your vision? What gives you solace even when things go south in your life?
In fact, just recently someone from a dating app asked me this tendering yet important question: What are my life goals?
And I, without any dodging, said: Salvation. There was some silence – but a relieving sigh and renewed understanding of how we shape our conversations around life goals.
Not everyone is clear about such goals. Some people like to live in the moment, while others plan astutely to reconfigure their lives. Further, some people love the materialistic chase and confuse of it to be their life goal.
But that’s fine. After all, we are humans with natural desire to feel elevated in our own sense of ‘being’ in this life.
That said here’s the sweet lilies and daises part: first, always, understand that your life goals should be linked with your meaning and mission and then enmeshed with your career/ work. We may not always be a reflection of our work as we are these beautiful, complex, and emotional humans who have a lot to express and one life may not always permit us to be wholly ourselves. The best part? You can go inward and discover your passions, interests and goals that you – solely – can experience – wholly – in this incarnation.
So when someone asks you about your life goals; just say with a rebuilt confidence, ‘I’m on an inward travesty to explore the many facets that this life makes me experience’. This is when you live a life worth living and spreading this energy everywhere.
With that stated, this is how I define a personal brand: a life worth living. (Yes, Justin Welsh rocks!)
