I read in a recent newsletter by one of my favourite author named James Clear. The newsletter is called 3 Ideas 2 Quotes 1 Question – what a lovely sequential way of learning from his writing.
In it, he mentioned that when you are tired, you need rest, but when you are feeling empty, you need a purpose.
Feeling fulfilled needs meaningful striving towards our goals.
I quote I loved by Emily Fletcher in this context – that is, ‘When you keep meditating, you are fulfilment looking for a need. Isn’t this powerful and beautiful; ironic yet aligned?’
You don’t need signposts to discern your destination; you just need to move incrementally towards what is your inner calling and follow your purpose. Knowing your purpose itself is the ultimate fulfilment. The next day, months, year, decade? You are advancing on this path that is so gorgeously laden by nature.
Robin Sharma, in his email, talked about the companies that are the real stalwarts in the making as they think 100 years ahead of time. The create movements not just intermittent waves – be it Tesla, Salesforce, Lululemon, among other exemplary brands. Now this is the path towards long-term fulfilment and impact that you can have even beyond your years you are on this planet.
So, fulfilment is actually an entrenched gratification towards our goals – the ones which perk us up every single day in the now towards decades later where we arrive via sustained purpose and focus.
Yes, it is challenging. Yes, it shakes you up from the status-quo. Yes, you have to keep striving with a relentless spirit for years and years, but as serendipity would have it, you can start feeling fulfilled with every step you take on this ‘entrenched yet seized’ path – one action at a time.
