Ali Abdaal’s book called Feel Good Productivity is so refreshing and retrospective in its read.
Somehow, most of us are swarmed in so much work that we forget what feeling really ‘good’ from the inside means. Just imagine how much stress we wear on our sleeves when we make work transactional or some kind of ‘resultant’ outcome we wish to achieve – no matter how much we burn out in the process.
But as soon as I got through the first few pages of the book, it talks about treating work like ‘play’ where you broaden and build your skills to deliver the most meaningful impact of your delivery.
So what does in my parlance ‘feel good to do good’ imply?
It means generating enthusiasm and enthusiastic gratitude (I came across this lovely expression from Ziva Meditation) before you start work. (Not that this playfulness ends when you start work, rather it tunes you into its rhythmic flow of creation.)
There could be any form of play before your play for work – a quiet walk in nature, a cup of tea in your solitude, practicing meditation, or reading a ‘digestive’ spiritual book. All of this – and more – release endorphins that make your feel and understand the biology of joy’ that you are embodied with! (Mentioned in the book – don’t forget to read it!)
When you feel goodness in its most nuanced form – like the beautiful moments that you make – you become more productive to do good things with good intentions. Because that energy baked from the creative source enlivens you to deliver your optimal best in any situation.
It’s the goodness of creation and creativity that brings us closer to divinity. It is then you start creating from the source of nobility.
How much good do you feel of late? And how are you expressing it in your work and life?
